Healthy Food Recipe

This week's topic is on lifestyle. My mum and dad have been on a diet and they have bought the Hairy Bikers book of recipes. We have tested and tried a load of recipes and so far, this one is my favourite!

The recipe I have chosen to share with you guys is the Spanish Style Chicken Bake. It is only 370 calories per serving.

  • Serves: 4
  • Prep time:
  • Cooking time:
  • Total time:

Ingredients
  • 1 medium onion, cut into 8 wedges
  • 1 medium red onion, cut into 8 wedges
  • 500g new potatoes, quartered lengthways
  • 8 whole garlic cloves, unpeeled
  • 8 medium tomatoes, quartered
  • 75g chorizo
  • 8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • ½tsp sweet smoked paprika
  • ½tsp dried oregano
  • 1 green pepper, deseeded and cut into strips
  • Flaked sea salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper

  •

    Method

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas Mark 6. Put the onions, potatoes, garlic and tomatoes in a large roasting tin and season with sea salt and lots of freshly ground black pepper. Toss everything together lightly and roast for 20 minutes.

  •
  • While the vegetables are roasting, skin the chorizo and cut the meat into thin slices – 5mm is about right. Put the chicken thighs on a board and carefully slash each one 2 or 3 times with a knife. Season all over with black pepper. Mix the paprika and oregano together and set aside.

  •
  • Take the roasting tin out of the oven, scatter the chorizo over the veg and turn everything a couple of times. Place the chicken on top of the vegetables and chorizo and sprinkle with the paprika and oregano. Season with a little salt and return to the oven for 20 minutes.

  •
  • Take the tin out of the oven. Holding one corner carefully with an oven cloth, lift the tin a little so all the juices run to the opposite end, then spoon and drizzle the juices back over the chicken. Tuck the pepper strips loosely around the chicken and vegetables.

  •
  • Turn the oven up to 220°C/425°F/Gas Mark 7. Put the tin back in the oven for another 20 minutes or until the peppers are just softened and the chicken is golden and crisp.

  •

Have the School Blues!? Chase them away!

So, school starts either tomorrow or already has started for you. The school blues have creeped upon the students, and now they are feeling down. The lugs of homework, early mornings and early evening, tiredness and rushed assignments press down on you.

So how do we get rid?

Make school a laugh but somewhere to learn, surround yourself with good friends. Friends that can make you laugh, but help you learn and do not distract you so much that you drop your grades. Make sure you balance your social life and homework, once you leave school you never have to go back!

"You have ages till you leave! "
School is only a small section of your life, up have around 60/70 more years after school! Why mess it up your life when it's only a small part of it? When it's only around 16 years of your life! You will grow up, get good grades, go to uni or start a job get a family and live your life! Don't throw it away due to not liking studying.

Best foundation and Brow routine for teens #TeenBlogSeries

Best foundation and Brow routine for teens.

So, i know its hard on the school morning to get ready. To pack your bags, have breakfast, get dressed, do your hair and make up all in the space of around 45 minutes. Here to follow is my routine that saves me extra time and still look flawless. well, as best looking as I can get.

    Foundation:

So you do the usual, tone, moisturise and then prime your face. I cleanse in the evening so I have more time in the morning. Ok, so normally at the weekends, I allow my foundation to set and dry before covering it with powder, bronzer etc To save time from just sitting around waiting for makeup to dry, I usually do my eyebrows and then set my foundation. To avoid getting foundation in my eyebrows, I blend as close as I can to the brow, but then go round with a really small brush around the brow.

People suggest blending foundation on your t- zone before going onto your cheeks. I actually do the reverse, as my cheeks are the worst- with blemishes and spots. So I circle motions I blend on the hollow on my cheeks and work my way to my nose. I then blend on my forehead and chin, after I do my nose, using less product as it is the driest part of my face. ( I'm a combo to dry skin type gall)

I currently use the Rimmel match perfection, I do have a review check it out!

    Eyebrows:

At the moment, I have been testing different eyebrow products to find what i like and at this moment I’m using the collection eyebrow palette. I brush over my brows, shaping them and i fill them in. I then use my eyebrow mascara to set it all in place. I don’t really have much of a eyebrow routine, due to having a fringe that covers them 98% of the time.

    London Vlog Post!

On Thursday, I went into London with my family for the day, the trip was really good and I thoroughly enjoyed the day.

We had tried to catch the 12.53pm train, but annoyingly missed it by a second! instead, we had to sit around half an our, drinking coffee and listening to a 40 odd lady drone on about her day, which was not very exciting mind you. -Yawn-

It took around an hour to et into London, were we took the tube to covent garden and had a meal at Maxwells, across from MAC makeup store, I wish I could of gone in but my father refused to wait for me to prance and admire the makeup. -le cries-

We then took a look in M&M world, a very expensive and jammed packed place!

Union Jacks made out of M&M's

After, we then went to watch warhorse at the West End. it was thoroughly enjoyable, and the actors were amazing, the story line was brilliant and they made it so believable! I generally didn't see the fake horses made by wire and sticks etc, I saw them as large majestic horses- cheesy, I know!-
the show didn't start till 7.30pm, so it was late finishing and I did not get home until 12pm. I thoroughly enjoyed my day!

I will be reviewing the foundation I wore of the day, and the post will be up tomorrow! keep an eye out on my bloglovin account!

    My makeup wishes

So, everyone has there own list of makeup wants, including me! I thought, I would share my own wishes- high end and drugstore. Being a student, my budget is very low and many of my wishes are basic and most are probably something you guys already have, I'm not going to share them all but I will give a couple of examples.

    1) The Urban Decay Naked 2 palette.
I have not got the 1st and 3rd of this series, this would be my first palette of the collection. Personally, these colours are my favourite and I know will suit my skin tone.

    2) Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick - Shade: as you want Victoria-
     (It is pink, I swear!)

I really love lipsticks, and I love the 'pop'! of pinks for evening and special occasions.

    3)
Soap & Glory™ Archery™ Brow Tint And Pencil
I have read so many positive comments and I have not found my eyebrow holy grail so hopefully, I will love this eyebrow tint and pencil.

    4) Soap & Glory™ Kick Ass Concealer™ Three - Piece Camouflage Kit

    5) Max Factor Miracle Touch Foundation

I first saw this in Boots and was instantly attracted to it, a creamy texture that was soft and smooth

    6) Mac Prep+prime transparent finishing powder

I have heard such good praise for this product, I just want to test it myself. However, it is a small product, so I do not know whether to take the jump or not.

So, those are just 6 of my wishes from the endless list I would like.

What's on my iphone? + Twitter!

    Whats on my iPhone 4s?!

I'm certainly a nosey person! I love to read and watch videos/blogs about peoples lives and their surroundings, I love to compare and find why I can improve for myself.

    My lock screen:

I love insperational quotes, and quite recently, this one has really hit home. My school life hasn't been good and neither has my social life. So this makes me smile and inspires me for the day, my lock screen is either a quote, or a photo I really like of people I love. (Friends, family etc)

    Home screen:

I don't really visit this page, now I can just swipe up on my lock screen to take a photo, if I want to make it sassy and jazzy I will just visit my photos section. On this page is my main utilities, I put them in order of most used.

    2 page:

On this page it starts with my blogging section:
I have the app- blogger- my platform and I use it to write on the go, I also have bloglovin to read other blogs when I please.
The next few apps I have is social media- the usual.
Then my favourite shopping apps, boots newlook, river island, eBay and Starbucks. I also have QVC, an app that has high end brands on a deal at a cheaper price.

    3rd page:

    My games!

I know, some of them are sad- but I need some games for when I cannot reach wifi and am round relatives homes!

    4th page:

My random apps, things that I randomly download and are not in a certain category. I may use them often, or hardly at all, it depends the time and month.

    The bottom bar:

My phone dialling thingy- self explanatory
    My text messages- self explanatory
    Safari- again, self explanatory
itube- I was lucky, I managed to download the old version, before it was removed, so I could 'catch' music and play it without internet. Woop!

    Now:
    I have joined twitter! Wooh!

REVIEW: Maybelline Baby Lips Electro - Pink- UK

     Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pink

The Maybelline Baby Lips Electro series hit the stores on July 1st in the UK, having read hype and excitement about these products, I decided to go into Superdrug on the 2nd and buy one for myself.
My first impressions in store; I noticed the section where they were on sale straight away, they were hung up on a cardboard rack thing with bright colours, you couldn't miss it. I had seen 5 colours in the series all over the fashion blogging world, but was slightly disappointed when my local store only had two types of the lip balms. The two colours were the ones I was most interested in, however I did want to compare all 5.

The two colours were quite similar, pinks. The one I chose is hot pink, whereas the other one was more coral pink. Since I couldn't swatch in store, I chose the safest option, hot pink, because I knew it matched my skin tone. For the price of £2.99 I can't complain, as these bad boys are certainly a daily must for me! I love the price, its so inexpensive and worthwhile!

The lip balm moisturises my lips and tints them so well at the same time! It also gives my lips a nice smell, its divine! The smell is delicate, but to die for! I always smell it before I apply.

    Without flash

    With Flash

The colour is lovely and buildable, my lips are moisturised with just one swipe on each lip, the colour is certainly seen, but it is slightly lighter then when you build it up. I just simply build it up and it looks like a glossy/shiny lipstick, you don't even need that many swipes- who swipes their lip balm just once anyway?!
The colour does fade after awhile, but I still have a light tint and I just reapply when my lips are dry again.

I give the lip balm 5 stars out of 5, due to it being a perfect shade and everything I need for day to day use- such as school. Well done, Maybelline, I will certainly be rebuying!

What ones of the collection do you guys have?

    Love Paige xxx

    REVIEW: Simple oil balancing moisturiser

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Quick Note~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I'm sorry I have not posted, I had a load of exams and been really busy. I have decided to close my YouTube and decided to concentrate on my blog first.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Recently, my oily zones of my combination skin have been really oily and shiny. I wanted a moisturiser that calmed down my oil zones and moisturised my dry patches. I didn't want a moisturiser that removed my oils (because of my dry patches), and I didn't want a rich moisturiser to add oils to my oily skin. So when I read this 'oil balancing' moisturiser, I thought why the hell not.
I got this at £2.25 due to a mix up, however the original price is £4.25.

If this was £2.25, I would re buy this every time. My oily patches has certainly balanced itself up and it's not as shiny as it was or as oily- mind you I have only been using it for 5 days. My dry patches have slightly improved. For £4.25, I might have to consider buying this again. My dry patches haven't changed much for a moisturiser.

You don't need much to cover your face, but there is about a third of air in the bottle.
I would recommend this for combo to oily and oily skin types.

    Love

    Paige xxx

REVIEW! Benefit Stay Flawless 15 hour Primer / Paigeyy

Benefit Stay Flawless 15 hour primer~ Review!

I first saw this online on the Benefit website and thought nothing of it- as I was looking at their foundations. I then saw this in life at a Benefit counter in John Lewis ( a UK manufacture)- The counter girl was very friendly and took me through the different primers they have on offer. She gave her own opinions- which I loved to hear and only persuaded me more to buy this certain stick primer. I could of bought everything she recommended! she even persuaded my mum to buy a new foundation! Anyway- This was £24 from Benefit and I love it! In some ways more than others, mind you.

    'Stay flawless'

This primer come in a stick, and claimed it could hold your makeup for 15 hours and make you flawless! However, if your foundation does not make you flawless as it is, don't expect to be flawless with this primer. The primer certainly holds your makeup for a long period of time without it changing from what it looked like from when you applied it at 8am!

    '15 hour primer'

Many primers claim they can stick your makeup for 24 hours to your face. However, not many I come across claim a reasonable time- especially a big expensive brand. I was interested and had to try it. I loved the primer itself, being a stick and not a cream so it wasn't messy was a bonus to me and you cannot waste anything! This primer certainly impressed me! On a good day (good weather, good skin, good body temp (No sweating))my makeup stayed the exact same for the next 9 hours, it was when it got around early evening when I noticed my makeup starting to slide from my face or my blemishes started to show.

However, on a normal day (average skin, had a sport activity where I sweat and the weather is good) I tend to notice my nose shining by lunchtime (just after my activity) . I will just add a bit of powder and I'm set for the rest of the day!

On a bad day though (bad skin, bad makeup, really sweat from activity's and it rains) my makeup will start to slip by mid morning. I would apply a bit of powder- but then have to re apply by mid/late afternoon! Luckily, I don't have many bad days!

In the evening, when I go out for a party where dancing is involved, I will have shiny face by late evening. However, a quick application of powder and I'm set for a hour or so of more dancing!

    Overall:

I give this primer 4.5 stars out of 5! The primer certainly impressed me- as many primers have disappointed me and I wish I would have gone to benefit straight away! I will certainly be rebuying this product again and will be recommending this to all my friends! This primer may be expensive, but it's totally worth the buy! It just about lasts me a month! I just apply it over my blemishes or T zone!
However, I would use a good moisturizer before hand- even though this product does not dry out my dry patches (or oily). It does not hydrate them either- your on your own for that one, kid!

    Recommended for all skin types!

    REVIEW! Maybelline NEW Superstay Foundation

So, I saw this in my local drug store, Superdrug, a couple of weeks ago and I read thoroughly through the bottle. It seemed to claim that the foundation created:
~ Better skin in 3 weeks
    ~Flawless finish
    ~Evens skin tone
    ~It is Non Transfer
~ and it was only £8.99!

I thought, 'why the hell not!'. If it claimed it could do everything it said it did, my search for the perfect foundation would be over.  I bought the foundation in the shade 021 Nude. I have used this foundation for a couple of weeks now; applying it with the Real Techniques Face expert brush. There are certainly pros and cons too this foundation, just read on.

    Coverage:

I found this had a medium to  heavy coverage- easily covering my blemishes, but not my spots- drying them out and made them look like flakes of skin. If you have redness - this foundation is to go for. It sits really well in that department.

    Lasting wear:

The foundation did last for a long time- often I will come home from school and it will still mostly be there. However, where I had sweat or done PE the foundation had somewhat disconnected from my skin and looked like a rash over my skin, not an attractive sight. I did try to hide it with powder but it did not work! It lasted even longer with my primer from benefit (15 hour), but it still didn't stop it from turning into a rash.

    Skin tone:

If you don't blend the foundation properly it becomes uneven and patchy, especially when you use a flat foundation brush or apply it to your nose. however, the foundation is easy to blend in and you don't need much to cover a large area of skin.

    'Non Transfer'~

that is rubbish in some cases- it came of onto my BLACK jumper when it rained for 5 minutes! However, you averagely touch your face twice a minute and the foundation didn't budge. it just all depends on the weather.

SKIN TYPES: I would NOT recommend this for people with dry or combination skin! The foundation highlights you're dry patches and makes it all flaky. It would look lovely on oily skin- it gives a nice dewy affect. Just set it with powder because if not- it will make your face shine (not in the complimentary way).  I have not noticed a difference in my skin- I am a combo girl. However my oily areas are clear of spots, where as my dry has breakouts.

    PROS:

    Long Lasting
Easily blends~ I use a Real techniques brush- Expert face brush
    Doesn't transfer in good weather
    Good for oily skin

    CONS:

Can form a 'rash' look if you sweat
    transfers in the rain
can be streaky if not applied correctly
    Picks up dry areas

I Give the foundation 3.5 stars out of 5!

    Love, Paige
